Methodology

Great Place To Work® has been surveying employees around the world about their workplace experiences for 30 years. We have developed a set of themes and metrics that not only predict whether employees feel their workplace is great, but predict retention, agility, and overall business success.

Using our proprietary Trust Index™ survey, we measure the core of what we know creates great workplaces — key behaviors that drive trust in management, connection with colleagues, and loyalty to the company.

The survey enables employees to share confidential quantitative and qualitative feedback about their organization’s culture by responding to 60 statements on a five-point scale and answering two open-ended questions.

Employees tell us whether leaders are accessible, communicate honestly and clearly, and if their actions match their words. They tell us whether they feel respected as individuals, if they receive training benefits, appreciation, support for their well-being and opportunities to contribute. They tell us whether they believe their company is fair related to pay, profits, promotions, recognition, favoritism and opportunities. They tell us if they are proud of their work, their team, and their company and if they feel they make a difference, and their work is meaningful. And they tell us whether they enjoy the people they work with, feel cared for and can be themselves.

Great Place To Work measures the differences in survey responses across each organization to assess both the quality and consistency of the employee experience.

In addition to analyzing employee feedback for the Best Workplaces in Asia list, in certain countries we also consider what companies with more robust programs can tell us about their programs and workplace strategy. While these responses can provide important context for rankings, only survey data can garner a list placement. Companies are recognized on the Best Workplaces in Asia list based on the degree to which they outperform others in their own country and across Asia.

Surveys must meet strict requirements for how they are distributed and the percentage of employees who respond to ensure they accurately represent honest feedback from the company’s full population. Rankings take into account the degree of employee presence in Asia and how many countries each company surveyed.

To be eligible for the Best Workplaces in Asia list, companies must appear on at least one national Best Workplaces in Asia list and must have between 50 and 499 employees for the Small & Medium category and 500+ employees for the Large category in Asia.

To determine this list, Great Place To Work surveyed companies employing more than 8.9 million people in Asia and received more than 3.8 million responses and this list is based on their feedback.

Best Workplaces Lists FAQs

What is the Trust Index™ Survey?

The Trust Index™ Survey is Great Place To Work®’s employee survey. It captures confidential feedback and helps measure the level of trust within an organisation.

The Best Workplaces in Asia™ list recognizes organizations in two categories based on their total employee population in the region:

Small & Medium: 50–499 employees in Asia

Large: 500 or more employees in Asia

Multinational organizations that survey employees in more than one country are considered as a single entity. Their list category is determined by their total employee population across the countries in which they participate within Asia.

To be considered for the Best Workplaces in Asia™ list, an organization must first earn Best Workplace™ recognition in at least one eligible country in Asia.

Organizations must also have at least 50 employees in the region and meet the requirements for either the Small & Medium or Large list category.

For multinational organizations, performance is evaluated across the countries in which they survey. Organizations are encouraged to survey their full employee population across Asia to provide the most comprehensive representation of the employee experience throughout the region.

Multinational companies that survey employees in more than one country are considered as a single entity for the regional list.

Their category is determined by their total employee population across the countries in which they participate in Asia. Companies are encouraged to survey their full employee population across the region to provide the most comprehensive representation of their employee experience.

With more organizations competing across countries for regional recognition, some companies may see significant changes in their rankings this year. Changes may also result from an organization moving into a different list category based on its regional employee population.

Achieving an exceptionally high average Trust Index™ score alone is not enough to secure a top ranking. The highest-ranking organizations must also outperform their peers relative to their company size and country-level performance, while delivering a consistently positive experience across their employee population.

Earning a place on the Best Workplaces in Asia™ 2026 list therefore represents a significant achievement — recognizing organizations that stand out not only within individual countries, but among the very best workplaces across Asia.
